Dinner Tonight: Baked Turkey Wings w/ Bleu Cheese Dressing / Celery Sticks and Baked Fries




Another sunny day out again. We had a high in the 40's, which means more the snow piled up keeps melting away! Had a bowl of Bran Flakes for Breakfast with my usual cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Worked out and then had to go to Kroger for Mom. I've been so good on my Diabetes 2, Great blood work return from the Doc and also good readings when I take it here at the house. So good that today is what I like calling a 'Free Day". That's where I have an item or items that I normally don't have. Sometimes its a Pizza, Arby's, Wendy's and such. But today I went with my biggest temptation DONUTS! While at Kroger I bought a couple of Chocolate  Glazed Cake Donuts! I can't even describe how incredible those were, I savored every bite. It's been sometime since I've had one, but that should satisfy the craving for a while. Anyway for dinner tonight something new, I prepared Baked Turkey Wings w/ Bleu Cheese Dressing / Celery Sticks and Baked Fries.







I picked up the Jennie - O Turkey Wings at Walmart yesterday. First time I've seen these in Walmart and the first time I've tried them. I found a few ways to prepare them and went with a rub that sounded good and I'll be baking them. For the seasoning I'll need; 1/4 teaspoon Poultry Seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon Hungarian Paprika, 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder, 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder, 1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt, and 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper. I'll also need Pam Cooking Spray and 1 tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.






To prepare them Mix first six ingredients together in a small bowl. Sprinkle oil over Turkey Wings. Sprinkle the Wings with seasonings mixture. Spray a shallow baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Arrange Wings in a single layer in the baking dish.  Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. Then get ready to enjoy some huge, delicious, Wings! For aside I had some Litehouse Lite Bleu Cheeseand Jack Daniels Honey Smokehouse BBQ Sauce, for dipping,  and Celery Sticks. Then I also Baked some ore Ida Steak Fries. For dessert later a Healthy Choice Vanilla Bean Frozen Greek Yogurt.






Baked Turkey Wings Recipe

Ingredients

1/4 teaspoon Poultry Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon Hungarian Paprika
1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper
1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 package of Jennie - O Turkey Wings, wing tips discarded (optional)

Instructions

1. Mix first six ingredients together in a small bowl. Sprinkle oil over turkey wings. Sprinkle wings with seasonings mixture.
2. Spray a shallow baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Arrange wings in a single layer in the baking dish.
3. Bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.

Cooking Instructions:
OVEN METHOD:

SLOW COOKER METHOD:
Place wings in slow cooker.
Add 1/2 cup water.
Turn slow cooker on high and cook 4 hours.
Always cook to well done, 170°F. as measured by a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest portion of meat.

GAS GRILL METHOD:
Preheat grill to medium heat (approximately 350°F).
Cook wings over direct heat for 20 minutes.
Turn wings and cook additional 35 minutes.
Always cook to well done, 170°F. as measured by meat thermometer inserted into the thickest portion of meat.
