A fundraiser to benefit Diabetes Dayton. . An evening of craft beer, good food & live blues music. Offering a unique selection of draught craft beer for sampling and full tasting with an array of local blues bands live on stage with tasty local cuisine offered for your enjoyment.


Diabetes Dayton, your local diabetes association, serving the Dayton Area since 1963, will host its fourth
annual Big Brews and Blues fundraiser on Friday evening, May 17th at historical Carillon Park from 5PM to 9PM. The evening includes some terrific blues music, local cuisine and an upscale beer tasting of over 40 all draught, all craft beers as a culmination to American Craft Beer Week. This worthwhile and fun event is a great way to start off the festival season.

Big Brews and Blues tasting tickets include 20 tastes and a commemorative glass. Those attending will be able to sample some of the more limited edition selections of fine craft beer from Ohio breweries, several of which are brewing something special just for our event. Come sample ‘Mystic Mimosa’ from Jackie O’s, ‘Bowerbird’ from Yellow Springs Brewery’s and ‘Kettle Cup 2013’ from Harpoon Brewery these will be tapped at special times. There will also be selections from Dayton Beer Company, Weasel Boy, Moerlein Brewing Co, Elevator Brewing Co, Great Lakes Brewing Co, Mount Carmel, Ohio Brewing Co, Listermann’s, Triple Digit and Thirsty Dog Brewing Co.

We have a great line-up of blues music, with father and son ‘Joe & Jack Waters’ starting us off, followed by Cincinnati’s award winning ‘Them Bones’, then ‘Johnny Mack & the Heavyweights’ from Columbus and finally, ‘Big Joe Blues.’ We are thrilled to once again have such wonderful talent supporting our cause.

Attendees will be able to dine on offerings from Boston’s Bistro & Pub, Brock Masterson’s Catering, Hickory River Smokehouse, Kaimelsky’s and Fressa.

Pre-Sale Tickets are $30 and can be found at over 20 locations throughout the Miami Valley or purchased online at www.BigBrewsandBlues.com. Tickets at the door are $35 for the beer tasting or if you only want to come enjoy the music and a non-alcoholic beverage, admission is just $15 Pints will also be available. You must be 21 to participate in the beer sampling.

100% of the event’s proceeds will benefit Diabetes Dayton's programs and services, such as camp for kids with diabetes, supplies for the uninsured and free, AADE accredited diabetes education classes.
