Recipes for a Healthy Gut
Looking to improve digestion and boost immunity? Look no further than EatingWell's quick and easy recipes featuring probiotic and fiber-rich foods known to help feed a healthy gut.

Lemony Linguine with Spring Vegetables
Instead of cooking pasta in a huge pot of water, here we use just 3 1/2 cups for this one-pot pasta recipe. When the pasta is al dente, most of the water has evaporated and the bit that's left is thickened with the starch that cooks off the pasta. With just a few add-ins like lemon and Parmesan cheese you have a delicious silky sauce. Want to use up your veggie stash in the freezer? Swap in 8 ounces frozen spinach for fresh...........

Miso Vegetable Soup
Tofu, rice and plenty of vegetables transform miso soup from a light accompaniment into a dish that's substantial enough to leave you feeling satisfied..............

Korean Turkey Burgers with Kimchi
Korean chile paste (also known as gochujang) blended into the ground turkey makes this turkey burger recipe incredibly moist and flavorful. Top these healthy turkey burgers with kimchi--a fermented mixture of cabbage and other vegetables--which can be found near other refrigerated Asian ingredients or near sauerkraut or pickles in well-stocked supermarkets or natural-foods stores............

Sweet Mustard and Roasted Red Pepper Turkey Burger w/ Lay's Kettle Chips

Dinner Tonight: Sweet Mustard and Roasted Red Pepper Turkey Burger w/ Lay's Kettle Chips

After a beautiful weekend of perfect weather, the heat and humidity returned. Picked up a couple of items for my dinner tonight, did some laundry, and cleaned the fridge with a good scrubbing. For dinner tonight I prepared a Sweet Mustard and Roasted Red Pepper Turkey  Burger w/ Lay's Kettle Chips.

I used, as usual, Jennie - O Extra Lean Ground Turkey Breast. Formed it into patties, freezing 2 of the Burgers, and seasoned them with McCormick Grinder Sea Salt, and Black Peppercorn. Pan fried them in Canola Oil about 8 minutes, 4 minutes per side. Nice char on the outside and moist on the inside. Served it on a Healthy Choice Wheat Hamburger Buns, which are only 80 calories and 13 net carbs. Topped it with a Sweet Hot Stone Ground Mustard, Delallo Roasted Red Peppers, Boston Bib Lettuce, and a slice of Boar's Head Muenster Cheese. One loaded and tasty Turkey Burger! For a side I had some Lay's Kettle Cooked Lattice Cut Aged Cheddar and Black Pepper Potato Chips, now that's a mouthful! A new Lay's product and a very good tasting Chip, 150 calories and 16 net carbs. For dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Mousse.

LAY'S® Kettle Cooked Lattice Cut Aged Cheddar & Black Pepper Flavored Potato Chips

* Aged Cheddar & Black Pepper flavor
* No artificial flavors
* No preservatives

New Lattice Cut Kettle Cooked potato chips start with a Lay's signature potato, sliced thick and cut into a unique open-cut lattice shape. They are then kettle cooked in small batches to provide a crispy texture to allow for maximum crunch and flavor.

Lay's Kettle Cooked Lattice Cut Aged Cheddar and Black Pepper brilliantly pairs smooth aged cheddar cheese with a kick of black pepper.

Ranch, Mushroom, and Muenster Cheese Turkey Burger w/ Baked Fries

Dinner Tonight: Ranch, Mushroom, and Muenster Cheese Turkey Burger w/ Baked Fries

It was a fried Turkey Spam, topped with a Fried Medium sizes Egg, on Toasted Wheat Bread to start the day! Not much going on today, very humid out today with Thunder storms moving in later. Did a little house cleaning and that was it for the day. Dinner tonight its a Ranch, Mushroom, and Muenster Cheese Turkey Burger w/ Baked Fries.

Wanted a Burger but wanted one that I haven't had before so tonight I went with a Ranch, Mushroom, and Muenster Cheese Turkey Burger. Of course I used my favorite Turkey, the Jennie - O Extra Lean Ground Turkey Breast. Only 120 calories per serving and always taste fresh. I combined it with some Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix. I had always wanted to try a Burger with added Ranch Dip but never had, till tonight. So all I needed was 1 serving of the Jennie - O Extra Lean Ground Turkey Breast, Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix, and McCormick Grinder Sea Salt and Black Peppercorn.

I started by forming my Burger ans as I did that i sprinkled some of the Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix on it and finished making the pattie. The amount of Hidden Valley is all up to you when you make it. I then Seasoned both sides of the pattie and began cooking it. I pan fried it in Canola Oil, about 5 minutes per side. Had a nice char on the outside and moist on the inside. Again the frying time will vary depending on how thick your Burger is, always make sure the juices are running clear from your Burger. I let the Burger rest for a few minutes and then served it on an Aunt Millie's Reduced Calorie Hamburger Bun and topped with Sauteed Mushrooms and a slice of a Boar's Head Muenster Cheese. Served it with some baked Ore Ida Simply Cracked Black Pepper and Sea Salt Country Style Fries. For dessert later a Jello No Sugar Added Double Chocolate Pudding topped with Cool Whip Free.

Think Before You Eat: 15 Foods to Avoid with Diabetes

I'll be showing 1 of the 15 foods to avoid along with an healthier alternative recipe. Another of many great articles and recipes from one of my favorite web sites, Diabetic Living On Line.

Think Before You Eat: 15 Foods to Avoid with Diabetes

By Lori Brookhart-Schervish
These top food offenders contain high amounts of fat, sodium, carbohydrate, and calories that may increase your risk of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, uncontrolled blood glucose, and weight gain. The good news is you can indulge in your favorite foods and still eat healthfully with our satisfying and delicious alternatives.

#8 Processed Lunch Meat

Think making a sandwich for lunch is a safe bet? Unfortunately, processed lunch meat is full of sodium. Read the food nutrition labels printed on the packages you buy in the store, or ask your deli attendant to tell you the nutrition information for fresh-sliced meat.

Cut the sodium by slicing meat you've roasted at home or by asking specifically for meats lower in sodium.

Enjoy sandwiches for lunch or dinner by following our healthy sandwich recipes, which were made specifically for people with diabetes:

Thai Turkey Burgers
Thai seasoning is a blend of seasonings that is reminiscent of the classic flavors of Thai cooking. The ingredients vary widely by brand but often include garlic, coriander, onion, cilantro, and pepper. Look for it at food specialty stores or larger supermarkets.
SERVINGS: 6 servings
CARB GRAMS PER SERVING: 23

1/4     cup refrigerated or frozen egg product, or 1 egg, beaten
1/4     cup fine dry bread crumbs
1     teaspoon Thai seasoning or curry powder
1     pound uncooked ground turkey breast
6      whole grain cocktail-size hamburger buns, split and toasted
3/4     cup fresh basil leaves
2     tablespoons purchased peanut dipping sauce
1     medium mango, pitted, peeled, and sliced

1. In a medium bowl, combine egg product or egg, bread crumbs, and Thai seasoning or curry powder. Add ground turkey breast; mix well. Shape into six 3/4-inch-thick patties.

2. Place patties on the greased rack of an uncovered grill directly over medium goals. Grill for 14 to 18 minutes or until done (165 degree F),* turning once.

3. To serve burgers, top bottom half of each bun with some of the basil. Add patties. Spoon peanut dipping sauce over patties; add mango slices and bun tops. Makes 6 servings.

*Note: The internal color of a burger is not a reliable way to indicate the burger is done. A turkey patty cooked to 165 degree F is safe, regardless of color. To measure if the patty is done insert an instant-read thermometer through the side of the patty to a depth of 2 to 3 inches.
