Kitchen Hints of the Day!

A little Salt.......

* If you have over salted a liquid dish such as a soup, add unsalted liquid to dilute it or toss in a peeled, quartered potato for 15 minutes.
* If you happen to over-salt a pot of soup, just drop in a peeled potato. The potato will absorb the excess salt.
* To clean cast iron cook wear, don’t use detergents. Just scrub them with salt and a clean, dry paper towel.
* Salt pulls juices out of vegetables. This is a good thing for some watery vegetables like cucumbers and eggplant in some dishes, but if you want mushrooms to remain plump, add the salt at the end of cooking.
* If your salt is clumping up, put a few grains of rice in with it to absorb excess moisture.
