Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

Dinner Tonight: Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

It was a rough morning. I don't know if I tried walking in my sleep or just half a sleep but I fell early this morning getting out of bed. Not really sure what happened, one minute I was in bed and the next
in the floor with my walker on top of me. I busted my knee open, had a cut on my arm, a sore neck, and a knot on my head. It could have been a lot worse if I had broken a hip or leg. And having but one leg, either would be bad news. That's about the 4th time that's happened. I'm going to have to come up with a solution before I do break something. For Breakfast I just had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea, not real hungry. Rested most of the day. For Dinner tonight I prepared a personnel favorite, Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo.

One of my favorites tonight, Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo! To make it I used a box of Zatarain’s Gumbo Pasta Dinner Mix for the Gumbo base, 1 1/2 Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey
Sausages (sliced into bite size slices), a bag of Kroger Brand Jumbo Shrimp and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. I precooked the Sausage and Shrimp, according to the package instructions, before adding it to the Gumbo.

The Zatarain’s Gumbo Pasta Dinner Mix uses Pasta instead of Rice. It’s very easy to prepare, takes about 25-30 minutes. To start; I just boil the stock that’s in the packet, add the sliced the Turkey
Sausage to the stock along with a few shakes of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce and continued to cook for 10-15 minutes. Then I added the Shrimp and simmered another 2-3 minutes. And the Gumbo is ready to serve and It turns out fantastic! Nice flavor, incredible tasting stock, meaty Shrimp and Sausage, and plenty of Pasta, makes one easily prepared hearty and delicious dish. Plus enough leftovers for a couple of lunches too! I also baked a loaf of Pillsbury French Bread. For Dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Pudding Cup.

Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

Dinner Tonight: Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

To start this day I Poached an Egg and served it on a Healthy Life Whole Grain English Muffin. Also had my morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Mostly cloudy with a passing shower, about 82
degrees and humid. We had some action in the neighborhood, 6 houses up from where we live. The house was being repossessed and the resident wasn't giving the house up. Plus he had a huge gun collection so they had to call the SWAT Team in. They finally had to break the door down and get him out. I'll give our Police credit, they tried to talk him out for 4 hours before going in, and they never arrested him. Our neighborhood went back to peace and quiet today. After Lunch went over to see Dad for the rest of the afternoon. For Dinner tonight I prepared a personnel favorite, Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo.

Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries

Dinner Tonight: Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries

For Breakfast on this Thursday morning I toasted a Healthy Life Whole Grain English Muffin and topped with Smucker's Sugarless Blackberry Jam. I also had a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Mostly sunny and 54 degrees out but the humidity was up a bit. Started the laundry after Breakfast. Outside got the leaf blower out and cleaned of the deck area and the driveway. After Lunch went over to see Dad for the afternoon. He's doing good one day and not so good the next day. Hope he starts improving soon! So for Dinner tonight its a Smoked Turkey Sausage Dog w/ Baked Shoestring Fries.

I used the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage. I cut the Sausage Links into Bun length pieces. I absolutely love the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage. It’s got such a fantastic
flavor and always cooks up just right. To prepare them I used a large skillet, added about a 1/2 tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and preheated it on medium heat. Put the Sausage in the skillet when it was heated up and covered with a lid. I turned the Sausage every few minutes to get an even char on them, cooked about 11 minutes total. As always they came out just bursting with flavor and flat-out delicious! I served it on a Aunt Millie’s Reduced Calorie Whole Grain Hot Dog Bun and topped with French’s Spicy Brown Mustard.

To go with the Sausage Dog I baked up some Alexia Organic Yukon Select Fries. Seasoned them
with Morton’s Lite salt and Ground Black Pepper. Baked them at 425 degrees for 16 minutes. They bake up beautifully and seasoned just right.! Plus they are only 120 calories and 15 net carbs. Served with a side of my favorite Ketchup, Hunt’s Ketchup. I had a Diet Dr. Pepper to drink. For Dessert later a Weight Watcher’s Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Bar, love these things!

Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

Dinner Tonight: Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo

To start my day I made one our favorites, Skillet Potatoes and Ham for Breakfast. I used 1 package of
Simply Potatoes Steakhouse Seasoned Diced Potatoes and a package of Meijer Diced Ham to prepare it. Just cook the Potatoes according to the package instructions and with about 5 minutes of cooking time left add the Diced Ham. Topped it off with a Sunnyside Up Egg and also made that morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Just love this Skillet Breakfast! Mostly cloudy with passing showers and 78 degrees. More rain moving back in tonight. Not a lot going on today. Did some things around the house and outside. For Dinner tonight I prepared a personnel favorite, Shrimp and Smoked Turkey Sausage Gumbo.

Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries

Dinner Tonight: Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries

To start the morning I toasted a Thomas Bagel Thin. These toast up great and make very good Breakfast Sandwich. Then I Scrambled some Egg Beater's Egg Whites and took one slice of Sargeto Ultra Thin Sharp Cheddar Cheese to top the Egg Whites. And I have my Breakfast Sandwich! I was at Kroger yesterday and they had the Thomas Bagel thins on sale, buy 1 get one free. These are 110 calories and 21 net carbs. I froze one package so we'll see how they hold up. We had about 1 1/2 inches of rain overnight, lot of local flooding down in Cincinnati. After Breakfast I took Mom's car in to have the oil changed at a local Car Repair we go to. Then after Lunch I went over to spend some time with Dad. Back home did a load of laundry for Mom. So for Dinner tonight its a Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries.

I used the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage. I cut the Sausage Links into Bun length pieces. I absolutely love the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage. Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries

Dinner Tonight: Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries

To start the morning I made a packet of Pioneer White Peppered Gravy, toasted 2 slices of Healthy
Life Whole Grain Bread, fried 2 Jennie – O Turkey Sausage Links, and that morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. We finally seen a bit of sunshine today! Yesterday was a full day cool and gloomy weather. In the mid 40's today and a few peeks of the sun. After I had Breakfast I went to McDonald's to pick up Breakfast for Mom and Dad. Back home did a couple of loads of laundry for Mom. Caught up on everything else so it was an afternoon of College Football. For Dinner tonight its a Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries.

I used the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage. I cut one of the Sausage Links into Bun
length pieces. I absolutely love the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage. It’s got such a fantastic flavor and always cooks up just right.

Seasoned them with Morton's Lite salt and Ground Black Pepper. Baked them at 425 degrees for 16 minutes. They bake up beautifully and seasoned just right. Plus they are only 120 calories and 15 net carbs. Served with a side of my favorite Ketchup, Hunt’s Ketchup. I had a Snapple Diet Dr. Pepper to drink. For Dessert later a bowl of Dole Sliced Peaches.

Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries

Dinner Tonight: Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries

To start the morning I made a packet of Pioneer White Peppered Gravy, toasted 2 slices of Healthy Life Whole Grain Bread, fried 2 Jennie - O Turkey Sausage Links, and that morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. We had rain overnight and started off with a cloudy morning. Ended up partly sunny and only had a high of 61 degrees. After Breakfast I went to Kroger for Mom and picked up a few items she needed and then to McDonald's to pick up their Breakfast. It was housecleaning day today, vacuumed and dusted. Took my Hoveround Chair outside and gave it a good cleaning, which it needed. For Dinner tonight its a Smoked Turkey Sausage Dogs w/ Baked Shoestring Fries.

I used the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage. I cut one of the Sausage Links into Bun length pieces. I absolutely love the Butterball Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage. To go with the Sausage Dog I baked up some Alexia Organic Yukon Select Fries. Seasoned them with McCormick Grinder Sea Salt and Black Peppercorn Medley. Baked them at 425 degrees for 18 minutes. They bake up beautifully and seasoned just right, excellent Shoestring Fries! Plus they are only 120 calories and 15 net carbs. Served with a side of my favorite Ketchup, Hunt’s Ketchup. I had a Snapple Diet Peach to drink. For dessert later a Jello Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Pudding.
