Kitchen Hint of the Day!
Olive oil is healthy as oils go, but it has a low smoke point, which means that it will break down rapidly when exposed to heat. You can increase the smoke point of olive oil by adding a small amount of canola oil, which has a very high smoke point. If your recipe calls for a tablespoon of olive oil, use 2 1/2 teaspoons olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon canola oil and sauteing will be easier.
