Grilled Buffalo Terres Major Filet w/ Teriyaki Marinated Mushrooms, Mashed Potatoes,...

Dinner Tonight: Grilled Buffalo Terres Major Filet w/ Teriyaki Marinated Mushrooms, Mashed Potatoes, Sugar Snap Peas, and Baked Garlic Knot Rolls

Spent the afternoon at the rehab center visiting my Dad. He goes in for a minor surgery Tuesday morning Terres Major Filet w/ Teriyaki Marinated Mushrooms, Mashed Potatoes, Sugar Snap Peas, and Baked Garlic Knot Rolls.and then hopefully about another week in rehab and he'll be home again. For dinner today I had a Grilled Buffalo

I had ordered some Wild Idea Ground Buffalo, Buffalo top Sirloin Steaks, and a couple Buffalo 8 oz. Terres Major Fillets. I had never tried the Terres Major cut but was told it was one of the most tender cuts of meat. I had wanting to try it but it was always sold out on Wild Idea Buffalo web site up until last week when I placed my order, and I see now it's sold out again! That's got to be a good sign for some good Buffalo Steak. I seasoned it with McCormick Grinder Sea Salt and Black Peppercorn and I then fired up the outdoor grill and grilled it. It wasn't a real thick cut so I had to a close eye on it, so not to let it burn. Buffalo or Bison cooks very quickly because it's so lean. I grilled it about 3 1/2 minutes per side and then let it sit for 5 minutes before slicing it. It came out a perfect juicy medium rare. I now know why its always sold out! As all the Wild Idea Buffalo cuts it had an incredible flavor, a wild and almost sweet flavor. Tender, so tender that it almost shreds when I cut it! Sorry Beef your not a close second to Buffalo!

To go with that juicy steak I had purchased some Teriyaki Marinated Mushrooms from Kroger Deli yesterday. Also I made a side of the Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes, heated up some Walmart Marketside Sugar Snap Peas, and baked a couple of rolls of Walmart Bakery Savory Garlic Knot Rolls. For dessert/snack later tonight a 100 Calorie Mini Bag of Jolly Time Pop Corn.

Wild Idea Buffalo Terres Major Filet

The second most tender cut on the animal. This treasured cut is found in the chuck shoulder.

How to Put Out Kitchen Fires

Recently a friend of mine's wife was cooking and had a grease fire. My friend ran in and extinguished it before any major damage occurred or anyone was hurt. He knew how to stop a grease fire which is why I'm passing this info along on Kitchen fires. As they say a little knowledge can go a long ways!

How to Put Out Kitchen Fires

* When a fire starts in the kitchen, you need to act fast to keep the fire from getting out of control. But how
you act depends on what kind of fire you have and where it is. Follow these instructions for putting out kitchen fires:

* If you have a fire in the oven or the microwave, close the door or keep it closed, and turn off the oven. Don’t open the door! The lack of oxygen will suffocate the flames.

* If your oven continues to smoke like a fire is still going on in there, call the fire department.

* If you have a fire in a cooking pan, use an oven mitt to clap on the lid, then move the pan off the burner, and turn off the stove. The lack of oxygen will stop the flames in a pot.

* If you can’t safely put the lid on a flaming pan or you don’t have a lid for the pan, use your fire extinguisher. Aim at the base of the fire — not the flames.

* Never use water to put out grease fires! Water repels grease and can spread the fire by splattering the grease. Instead, try one of these methods:

* If the fire is small, cover the pan with a lid and turn off the burner.

* Throw lots of baking soda or salt on it. Never use flour, which can explode or make the fire worse.

* Smother the fire with a wet towel or other large wet cloth.

* Use a fire extinguisher.

* Don’t swat at a fire with a towel, apron, or other clothing. You’re likely to fan the flames and spread the fire.

* If the fire is spreading and you can’t control it, get everyone out of the house and call 911! Make sure everybody in your family knows how to get out of the house safely in case of a fire. Practice your fire escape route.

Kitchen Hint of the Day!

When you mix cookie dough, only stir as much as you must to fully combine the ingredients - over stirring can cause the cookies to become tough. Unbaked cookie dough may be frozen and thawed when you're ready to bake. Wrap the dough tightly in a freezer bag, try to resist eating any, and stick in the freezer for up to one month.

5 Foods for a Flatter Stomach

Really good informative article from the Eating Well web site. I left a link to it at the end of the post.

5 Foods for a Flatter Stomach

New research shows that these foods may have waist-shrinking (and consequent health-boosting)
properties.
If you want a slimmer stomach, cutting calories and exercising are must-dos. But new research also shows some foods may have waist-shrinking (and consequent health-boosting) properties. Here are 5 tummy tamers to add to your diet.

1. Canola Oil
Already dubbed a heart-healthy cooking oil, canola now touts another boon: when Brazilian researchers fed rats a diet containing either canola or soybean oil for two months, the soybean-oil eaters gained nearly 20 percent more fat in and around the organs of the belly (also known as visceral fat) than those that chowed on the canola-oil-enriched diet. While researchers can’t say exactly how much canola oil people would need to include in their diet to achieve this effect, they believe that canola oil’s high omega-3 content lowers insulin levels, ultimately discouraging fat storage in the abdomen.
