Thank you to Mickey for passing this hint along.......
Bananas may be stored in the refrigerator. The cold will turn the skin brown but will not damage the fruit inside. This will also slow down ripening. This is the only way you can keep them for any length of time.

Kitchen Hint of the Day!
Here's a Hint passed along by my neighbor.....
Add one teaspoon of lemon juice to each quart of water when cooking rice, this will keep rice fluffy.

Kitchen Hint of the Day!
When cooking with tomatoes.....
The high acid content of the tomato will naturally slow down the cooking process of some other foods. For example, beans cooked with tomatoes added may take up to twenty percent more cooking time than without.

Kitchen Hint of the Day!
Most cookies doughs can be chilled before baking. Chilling the dough in the refrigerator helps to prevent the cookies from flattening or spreading too much, and helps to give a nice rounded center. Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 days before baking.

Kitchen Hint of The Day
Always let your food cool before putting it in fridge or freezer. If you don’t, the temperature in the refrigerator will rise. And the only thing that benefits is mold and bacteria.
