Love Breakfast!

I love Breakfast and the early mornings! It's the quietest part of the day and the beginning of a new day, full of hope and surprises. I like starting off with Breakfast and one of my favorites is making a Breakfast Sandwich. There's endless toppings and ingredients you can use to make one. I made one this morning consisting of a Healthy Life Whole Grain English Muffin, Scrambled Egg (1 Egg), and Fried Kahn's Deluxe Bologna (Sliced Thin). I use a Medium Size Egg (it's only 60 calories) and season it with a splash of 2% Milk (to make the Egg fluffier), a sprinkle of Sargento Reduced Fat Shredded Sharp Cheddar, and Sea Salt and Ground Black Pepper. I get the Bologna sliced very thin. I find that when you get it sliced thin it fries up better, it gives it a nice char on the outside. Put all the ingredients together and you have a delicious and healthy way to start your day, along with a cup of fresh brewed Bigelo Decaf Green Tea.

One Cold Spring Morning!

They say it's Spring but it sure doesn't feel like it this morning! It's sunny but only 22 degrees as I go to grab the morning paper. Cold or not, I started my morning off right with a delicious and healthy Breakfast. I prepared one Egg Sunny Side Up, 2 Jennie - O Turkey Sausage Patties, 2 Slices of Klosterman Wheat Bread (buttered with I can't Believe It's Not Butter), and a cup of hot brewed Bigelow Green Tea. Add the Morning Paper and I'm all set for the day! Now if it would just warm up and stay warm!

Started the morning off with something new, Jimmy Dean Delights Fully Cooked Applewood Smoke Chicken Sausage Links. I found them at tyhe Kroger up the road the other day. They're fully cooked so all you do is warm them up in the microwave or by skillet, which is what I did this morning.

The fried up in 8 minutes and really browned up beautifully. There 102 calories and 3 carbs per serving, which is 3 links. Tender and full of great flavor, great new item to have in the freezer! Served them with a Pillsbury Grand JRs Biscuit and a cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea. Give them a try great new Breakfast item!

You Should Be Drinking Green Tea, Already (A New Study Says It Could Even Prevent Breast Cancer)

You Should Be Drinking Green Tea, Already (A New Study Says It Could Even Prevent Breast Cancer)

A new study says green tea could lower breast cancer risk, because it can change the way we metabolize oestrogen. With about a million other research studies enumerating the health benefits of green tea (and conflicting information about whether coffee is really all that good for you), this is hardly the first report that makes us think green tea might be the better way to caffeinate. But for women, this could be a pretty big “pro” for team green tea.

Dr. Barbara Fuhrman of the National Cancer Instutute led the small-scale study, which was published in Nutrition Journal, and found that daily drinking lowered levels of oestrogen metabolites, both for pre- and post-menopausal women. In past studies, higher levels of oestrogen metabolites have been linked to a higher risk of breast cancer, so the study suggests that regular consumption of green tea could lower risk of breast cancer.

The researchers believe this is a result of green tea’s polyphenols, which include flavonoids and the ECGC found in green tea extracts. According to Nutraingredients.com, the researchers explained:

“Among postmenopausal Japanese American women, we observed that more frequent intake of green tea was associated with reduced urinary concentrations of oestrone. As a rich source of phytochemicals that can interact with and regulate xenobiotic metabolising enzymes, green tea may modify metabolism or conjugation of oestrogens and may thereby impact breast cancer risk.”

Incidentally, polyphenols are behind a long list of other green tea benefits, like:

Alzheimer’s prevention
younger looking skin
reducing inflammation
weight loss, reducing belly fat, protecting your eyes, and even beating superbugs
In conclusion? You should be drinking green tea, already.

A Beautiful Morning!

Sunny and 62 degrees is a great way to start the morning! While at Walmart yesterday I came across Pillsbury Grand Jrs Biscuits! Their 100 calories and 14 carbs per Serving (1 Biscuit). I purchased a small can that contained 5 Biscuits. So for Breakfast I baked the Biscuits, they came up full and fluffy. I cut in half and topped it with a 1 Egg Scrambled Egg, 1 slice of Jennie - O Turkey Bacon, and a slice of Sargento Ultra Thin Swiss Cheese. Along with my usual morning cup of Bigelow Decaf Green Tea and the Morning Papers I was ready to go! Have a good morning everyone!
