Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage Pizza
Delicious pizza in under 30 min and 300 calories per serving? We’ve taken the traditional Italian sausage and pepper sandwich and topped a crispy pizza crust with our own version. Sweet lean Italian turkey sausage and sliced, bell peppers gives this pie all the flavor of the old world, without the guilt! Bon Appétit!
INGREDIENTS
1 (10-ounce) can refrigerated pizza crust dough
1 (19.5-ounce) package JENNIE-O ® Sweet Lean Italian Turkey Sausage
1 cup pizza sauce
1 red bell pepper, cut into cubes
1 yellow bell pepper, cut into thin rings
1 small red onion, chopped
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
DIRECTIONS
1) Heat oven to 400°F.
2) Press crust into pizza pan. Partially bake crust for 5 minutes; set aside.
3) Cook turkey sausage as specified on the package. Always cook to well-done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer. Cool slightly; slice into ¼-inch pieces.
4) Spread pizza sauce over partially baked crust. Top with sausage, peppers, onion and cheese. Bake an additional 7 to 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
* Always cook to an internal temperature of 165°F.
