Kitchen Hint of the Day!

Organize your freezer......

* Organize your freezer space into food groups: meat, fish, leftovers fruit, and vegetables. Makes for a quick find of what you are looking for instead of a search party.
* Put older packages at the front of the freezer so you can use them first.
* Make sure you label all bags and containers; contents and date frozen.

Kitchen Hint of the Day!

Thank you to C.C. for passing this hint along......

Full Freezer - If possible, keep your freezer full, since it is not energy efficient to run half empty. Fill large spaces with loaves of bread, or use crumpled newspapers to prevent air from circulating.

Freezer Meal Week!

Starting with today's dinner, Salmon, for one week it's Freezer Meal Week! All the meals I prepare for dinner will be coming from the freezer, the entree or main protein at least. My freezer was getting a bit crowded with, sale items I couldn't pass up, an extra chop, chicken breast, etc.

It starts to pile up quick especially when a lot of times I'm just cooking for myself. So I'll see what I can come up with this week and clear my freezer out, well at least put a dent in it.

Kitchen Tip of the Day

Cook in bulk, if you have the freezer space. It doesn't take much more time to make a gallon of chili than it does 4 servings, a 10 lb pot roast isn't any harder to cook than a 4 lb one, you just need a bigger pan. You only wreck the kitchen once, cuts down on clean up. Freeze the extra servings in quantities right for your family for quick meals when you don't have time or want to cook.

The Dreaded Freezer Overload!

Hi my name is Mark and I have freezer overload! As I opened the freezer earlier today to see what looked good several items fell out of the freezer volunteering their services. I went with a Prime Rib fillet and laid that to thaw and then it was time, time to check dates on items and reorganize the freezer. I did throw a few items out that had been pushed to back or buried on the bottom but for the most part it was just reorganizing. I did realize after the reorganizing that there was no need to purchase any meats or seafood for a while. More later on this Prime Rib!
