Some helpful Hints sent in by a couple of readers on other uses for your Coffee Filters.
* Because coffee filters are absorbent, use for soaking up oil after frying foods. Simply lay a filter flat on a plate, and place your freshly fried food on top. Let rest for a minute, and all that excess oil will soak into the filter.
* After rinsing your fresh greens, wrap in a coffee filter before storing in your fridge. They'll keep your fresh stuff nice and crisp.
* Cover bowls or dishes with coffee filters when cooking in the microwave, they make excellent covers.
* If you save your cooking oil for reuse after deep-fat frying, line your sieve with a basket-style coffee filter to remove smaller food remnants and impurities.
* Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter.
* Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter.
* Simmer flavor into soups, stews, and sauces without having to dig out stems of herbs by using a coffee filter to make a bouquet garni.

Kitchen Hints of the Day!
Thank you to Ally and Tom for passing along these creative uses for Coffee Filters!
1 -Use a coffee filter to prevent splatter when heating something in the microwave, simply place over the top of your food and carry on like normal.
2 - Put under bacon, fries, fried chicken etc. to soak up excess grease.
3 - Strain bacon drippings by pouring them through a coffee filter into a ceramic bowl or mug. The brown bits, grains, etc will stay in the filter. Also works well for recycling frying oil.
4 - Kids food holders for Tacos, Hot Dogs, Pita Sandwiches, etc.
5 - After you are done washing your cast-iron cookware, place a coffee filter in the bottom of the pan and it will absorb moisture and prevent rust.

Kitchen Hint of the Day!
For the coffee drinkers out there, does your coffeemaker require cone-shaped filters? Save some cash by purchasing the less expensive round filters in bulk. You can buy a 500 - pack for cheap, then shape the filters into cones so they fit your machine. With a few simple folds, they work as well as the pricier alternatives.
